The Tribute to LEE BALDWIN

May 18, 1962 - November 30, 1998
It's with very great sadness that I must tell you, the fans of Lee Baldwin, that
my model & dear friend John Francis Mallette (known as Lee Baldwin)
died on the evening of November 30, 1998. He had a massive heart attack
in his home preparing to walk his dog. Death was instant. He had found true happiness
and had plans for a commitment ceremony & a new house.
John & I had spoken just a few months ago about this tribute site
which he was very pleased with. He planned to get a new computer after the
first of the year & contribute memories of his career & videos. I hope
shortly to contrbute a write up on John based on the great deal of
information he had given me over the many years we've known each other.
Jon Michael plans to complete work on John's autobiography.
My heart goes out to him in his great sorrow & pain.

John had been working on his biography but after his death his family wanted his career forgotten.
Who knows what happened to his notes, papers, documents, etc. pertaining to his erotic career.
At the time of his death he had made the decision, long thought about, to cease using "Lee Baldwin" &
to proudly use his real name & re-launch his erotic career.
We'd like to try & gather all data on John & carry out his wish and put together his biography.
We'd ask any of you who knew John (Lee) be it a friend, working with him on videos,
having photographed him or hired him as hustler (Lee said he loved doing such & the people
who hired him) would like to contribute your memories of him please

"In the 1980s a porn performer named LEE BALDWIN did some porn.
He was in his 20s. Lee was labelled by one reviewer (the late John Rowberry) as the
Prince of fetish flicks. His radical and political sexuality got him in trouble more than once with California's anti-porn police squads.
But Lee survived.

Much later, in the annual ADAM WORLD VIDEO GUIDE, Lee was added to the
publication's 1995 issue of it's Porn Performers Hall of Fame. He was among
those actors in the porn industry who were thought to have made a contribution.

Lee Once stated "It was great fun living out my fantasies for the
celluloid record. However, the lifestyle in the industry is not one I
recommend. The ones that got out like myself are probably few and far
between. Wouldn't it be nice to know all these guys went back to their
Midwestern lives and are living happily ever after."

The ARCHIVE will be going much further than Lee's modest statement in our tribute
to a very unique performer who we've know almost from the start of his career. Like ScottTaylor,
Lee committed to video performances that explored the outer limits of eroticism
& assured his place in history.
