In the early '60's of  Directory Services Inc (DSI) in Minneapolis, MN (Postal Box 1010). They fought the battles with the courts and postal service to legally produce and sell male nude photos and magazines in the United States. Prior to their court victories male nudes came from overseas and only 'physique photos' showing males in briefs or 'posing straps', were legal in the U.S.

DSI produced a long series of magazines thru the mid and late 1960's, all of them featuring male nudes. The first was Butch #1 in a 5"x8" format, all black & white and with with 48 rather tame pages, plus cover. Later issues added color, erections and finally went to a 8"x11" format

.After winning the battle for male nudes, DSI then offered the first hardcore male nude magazine (Album 1505/1506), again winning the right to legally produce and distribute their magazines in the mail in the U.S.
Somewhere about 1970 DSI moved to Burbank, CA (Postal Box 4066). There they continued almost exclusively with the larger 8x11 mags, until they faded from the scene in the late 1970's.

We offer only vague information about DSI, simply because we don't remember or have access to hard facts. What we do have to share are the original negatives, photos, slides, and page layouts for DSI work mostly done in California.
